Winchester Quilt Block has gone international!!

Lynda left her home in Thunder Bay, Ontario to visit her friends, Tom and Margaret Atkins, in Winchester, Texas.  Luckily her visit coincided with a Quilt Block Painting class.  Lynda painted a beautiful rendition of a fall maple leaf.  Not wanting to carry this block on her flight home, she waited until Margaret and Tom found an excuse to drive to Canada to deliver the block. One month of triple digit temps in Winchester was a good excuse for Margaret and Tom to head north.  The block was delivered and duly installed.  The Canadian maple leaf hangs majestically on Lynda's deck and can be viewed by boaters, canoers, paddlers and jet skiers.  Winter will bring an entire new set of viewers as the locals walk, snowmobile, cross country ski and ice skate along the river.

I had such a wonderful day working on my quilt block. First of all the drive there is so relaxing and if you keep your eyes open you will see loads of quilt blocks along the way on fences, houses, barns, etc.
There are a lot of pattern choices for you to choose from. I knew immediately when I saw the pattern that was for me on that day. The ladies are so helpful and positive. I just lost myself in the work. I have a stressful job and I just melted in relaxation with each hour that flew by and I knew when I walked out the door I that WILL be back again. A friend told me about the class and I am so happy that I got to go! I am getting ready to sign up again!

My sister and I have taken the class together 7 times, sometimes with other family members also joining us. We always have an enjoyable, relaxing day and go home with a beautiful painted quilt block to treasure. The instructors are very knowledgeable, helpful, and encouraging. I will probably run out of places to hang my paintings before I am ready to stop painting! This is a lovely way to spend a day. Ladies--grab your sisters and besties and sign up for a class!

Margaret, Kathy and Karen each have a wonderful gift of teaching with encouragement and patience. You will have a beautiful quilt block at the end of your class and likely a new friendship or two.
