Preparing for the Houston Quilt Festival

We are so excited to tell you that the Winchester Quilt Block Trail has been invited to have a booth at the Houston Quilt Festival!  We will be at Booth 152.  We will showcase our quilt blocks for sale on the front of our little Red Barn.  We will have information how to paint a quilt block and will be showing the documentary "Pieced Together" which is about the barn quilt trail movement.

We are so thankful for our great volunteers who have been helping us paint quilt blocks--Carol, Karen, Nicolette, Pat and Ellen.  They have helped us reach our goal of 40 painted blocks to take to the show!

The Quilt Festival is held at the George R Brown Convention Center and runs October 31-November 3.  Wear comfortable shoes and come see us in Booth 152!

I took a class after learning about the trail during the Houston International Quilt Show. I have not had that much fun creating something in a very long time! While I can sew, I definitely cannot paint... The instructions and materials provided during the class enabled me to create a beautiful custom quilt block that I proudly hang in my sewing studio.

Thank you Winchester Quilt Trail for spreading the love of sewing through this Quilt Block Trail!

I had such a wonderful day working on my quilt block. First of all the drive there is so relaxing and if you keep your eyes open you will see loads of quilt blocks along the way on fences, houses, barns, etc.
There are a lot of pattern choices for you to choose from. I knew immediately when I saw the pattern that was for me on that day. The ladies are so helpful and positive. I just lost myself in the work. I have a stressful job and I just melted in relaxation with each hour that flew by and I knew when I walked out the door I that WILL be back again. A friend told me about the class and I am so happy that I got to go! I am getting ready to sign up again!

My sister and I have taken the class together 7 times, sometimes with other family members also joining us. We always have an enjoyable, relaxing day and go home with a beautiful painted quilt block to treasure. The instructors are very knowledgeable, helpful, and encouraging. I will probably run out of places to hang my paintings before I am ready to stop painting! This is a lovely way to spend a day. Ladies--grab your sisters and besties and sign up for a class!
